Don't split districts and cut school funding!

Ask the House Education Committee to stop splitting school systems and reducing school funds.

A proposed constitutional amendment would create a new, breakaway school district in East Baton Rouge Parish. Please tell the House Education Committee to vote against SB 299 and SB 563 by Sen. Bodi White (R-Central). The amendment created by these bills would be bad for public schools across the state, as well as in East Baton Rouge Parish. Here’s why.

Statewide, the amendment would lead to a smaller per-pupil funding amount within the Minimum Foundation Program, and that would hurt every child in every public school in Louisiana.

In Baton Rouge, the secession would unnecessarily duplicate services (and costs) in the parish, negatively impact teacher tenure and lead to a less diverse learning environment for all the children in the parish.

Please act now, and ask the House Education Committee to vote NO on SB 299 and SB 563.
