Dear Friend,

Lawmakers in the House and Senate will take up bills TODAY that will hurt firefighters, teachers and other public workers and weaken safety in our community.

The Senate will consider two bills of four bills - SB 1484 and 1486 - that weakening the voice on the job for public workers.  The House will take up Gov. Jan Brewer’s bill – a top legislative priority for her – would gut the personnel system that protects workers from discrimination and stops cronyism in government.  All these bills are part of a national corporate agenda that the Goldwater Institute and other right-wing extremists are pushing to help the 1% while attacking public workers and hurt our communities in the process.

Click here now to call your Senate and House representative and tell them to:

•    Vote NO on Gov. Brewer’s personnel bill and the series of bills in the Senate
•    Oppose SB 1484, 1485, 1486, 1487 in the Senate that take away collective bargaining rights and a voice on the job for public workers

Here is a sample script you can use for your call:

I am calling to urge you to oppose Gov. Brewer’s personnel bill and Senate bills 1484, 1485, 1486 and 1487.  These bills are bad for hard-working firefighters, teachers, nurses and other public service workers.

If passed, they would lead to cronyism and discrimination in government agencies, larger class sizes in our schools, weaker education quality and make working conditions for firefighters and police officers more dangerous, which hurts the safety in our communities.

As Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana and other states have shown, these anti-working family bills are divisive and the last thing we need to get everyone working together to create a strong Arizona.

Thank you.

Your elected leaders need to hear from you TODAY.  Please click here now to find out who your Senator and Representatives are and call them to urge them to vote NO on Gov. Brewer’s personnel bill and the Senate bills attacking firefighters, teachers and other public service workers.
